Podcasting is not allowed during elections

Firstly, thanks elaine for pointing this out. (The link will probably expire in about 7 days as Channel News Asia does not keep online archives.

Basically the gist of the article is:

1. Podcasting will not be allowed during the upcoming general elections as it does not fall under the "positive list" which states what is allowed under election advertising.

2. Same for videocasting or video streaming of explicitly political content.

3. Individual bloggers can discuss politics, but have to register with the Media Development Agency if they persistently promote political views.

4. The government's view is that people can have diverse views, but should not hide behind the anonymity of the internet, to manipulate public opinion.

I actually don't know how to react at the moment. Will try to think more on it and write about it soon.
